I'm an MD guy and that was a horrible landing. Terrible side load on the gear and the sinkrate was excessive.

Watch Fox News video of Fed Ex md-11 crash, Capt. Urlich says the MD-11's horizonatal stabilizer, in fact the whole tail section was reduced from the DC-10 design to increase its range. So, the MD-11's pitch authority is reduced. Its not responsive enough to pilot input. Wow, you can see this clearly here. You can see the elevator go into full deflection and the MD-11's sluggish response.
