Carpenter ants have been known to nest in some odd locations. This is no exception. In this case, they've bored out chambers in my deer feeder which is made of styrofoam. It had been cool for several nights and this nest was in a slumber when I discovered it but they quickly came to life and started hustling around once disturbed. You can get them at Cabelas. They are listed as a Stumpfeeder and they work well.
