Bob Babbitt was a staff bassist at Motown along with James Jamerson. His discography is nothing short of amazing. As you will see in the following video interview, he is also a very kind and humble man. It was really cool to sit and watch this interview take place....every time he spoke of records he played on, that I have heard since I was a kid, my jaw hit the ground.
Not only was this something awesome to take in, but I was more impressed with his humbleness, kindness, and willingness to share his knowledge to encourage our readers in all they aspire to do with their careers. Please take the time to watch this interview, as there are few men alive today that have played on such hit Motown records. This will be a stunning interview if you have passion for bass the way we do here at Bass Frontiers.

It's a shame that the musicians, who are partly responsible for a lot of those hit records, regardless of genre, don't get as much shine as the artists do, especially session musicians. Without the musicians, the artists would not be complete. Cats, like Bob Babbitt, James Jamerson, and others, paid their dues to do what they love, and that's to perform to the best of their abilities.

Just seen Standing in the shadows of Motown here (on 2010 Xmas morning) on the tv in South Africa........and I sure tuned into Bob Babbit and his team. I'm 58, grew up in London and have 'most' of those old Motown tunes, and Stax and Atlantic and Chess all on 7" vinyls. What a time xxx and what a show yesterday. Loved it. Thanks.
