Rickenbacker 4001 bass, running in stereo through Guild Thunderbass (bottom, clean, bridge pickup) and Fender Bassman 70 (Top, neck pickup, Guyatone Fuzz pedal).

Clean tone first, then fuzz alone, then together.

  • OK. So you don't have Rick anymore but you still have Bassman. Would you be able to record a demo with Bass Guitar and Bassman only (no effects) and crank the amp up gradually? I'm wondering if Bassman is a good amp for a bass guitar. I want to buy one but there are almost no demos of Bass Guitar+70's Bassman on youtube. Please! It would be a great help. Pleeeease! :)

  • Actually the bassman was borrowed. Based on my impressions at the time it was underpowered for bass to be sure. It would give a bit of overdrive tone but a bit farty :)

    Good luck.

  • For all the people still seeing this video, I don't own most of this gear anymore. Not the bass, definitely not the pedal. Not the cabs, though the amp I will keep until I die (and have it buried next to me).

Thanks for all the views and ratings!!

  • Appologies to all those people who:

-can't tell fingerstyle from a pick or vice versa

-can't sit still long enough to sit through a 59 second video

-are offended by my choice to play live, improvised basslines rather than, god forbid, a song you actually know or can play or have heard a million times or reminds you of your ex-girlfriends

  • @Niraham Hey buddy, I gig with a bassman 100 and they're plenty loud, particularily with the deep switch on. In my experience, they sound best through 12" speakers.

  • reminds me of muse

  • Nice to see the SD set in action.

  • noticed U had the bassman 100 with master vol, the same as me, I know it has 4 6l6s, and it has two other tubes, and one on its own, what are they, are all 3 preamp tubes, or is one a rectifier ?, also if U have the master vol on 10 is your bassman brighter than it would be if U used the master vol at the same vol as the master open on 10 ? mine seems a lot more jangle when I don't use the master, is yours ?when using master it seems to impact the tone and make the amp a little duller , cheers

  • 0:29 'd tone was my favorite.
