Why are all of you so racist. The issue of extinction has nothing to do with Asians or Westerners or whatever. This issue has to be solved by mankind, and which nations are to blame has nothing to do with this. Animals are dying, and we are pointing fingers. The dolphin is critically endangered because of factories along the Yangtze river dumping waste into the water. These factories produce everyday items that we could be using. Everyone is at fault, the manufactures and the consumers.

What's with all the racism? The dolphins only lived in a single river, in the middle of one of the most thickly-populated human areas on Earth. It's a tragedy, sure, but it's got nothing to do with race. Everyone preaching about the West, go look up Passenger Pigeons; enlighten yourself. We Americans knowingly HUNTED a species to extinction, rather than altering a single river that a dolphin (sadly) couldn't adapt to. ALL of humanity needs to change--race isn't the issue.

Poor baiji! If you read witness to extinction: how we failed to save the yangtze river dolphin, you will find that what was done to try and save it was to little to late, and people just didn't put in enough effort. Horrible tragedy, we didn't even know much about it. These unique cetaceans were the TRUE owners of the river.

Yes, but we can only deal with animals one by one. No one can exonerate the West but China is driving most of the animals in danger today to extinction.

Hi. Please rethink the end of your comment where you praise China's attempt at reducing reproductive growth! Lord, they use forced abortions to attain this, as well as many other human rights violations. The issue of forced abortions is one that is most disgusting & soul-crushing. It is extremely shameful. This is certainly not a racist remark; yet one on the callousness of human beings. It is something I cannot wrap my head around. I hope you didn't know this & spread this knowledge. God Bless!
