It's interesting if you look at images of original Teds, Mods, Skinheads, Punks etc, they rarely fit the later stereotypical uniform image of those groups but tend to be more individualistic in their dress sense.

I loved that comment; "we only went down there so we diddnt have to go home for our tea" Bless em! How times change eh?

Love Teddy Boys. A lot of people say that if it wasn't for Mods and Rockers in the 60s, teenagers would have lead a very boring life, when it was actually Teddy Boys in the 50s that brought the essence to teenager and youth life. Teddyboys forever..what would teenagers do today if it wasnt for the great British Teddyboy..I loved being a ted in the 70`s and 80`s,and im a Ted today, bit older now,but its in the blood,if you have to ask,you wont know,i know what its like, because im a Teddyboy, and bloody proud, today its all about the lifestyle and the music, back then it was about the birds, gigs and the punch ups,too bloody old for that now, there are thousands of us still about and around the world today
Vincent,I think you hit the nail on the head mate.Alot of younger Teds in the 50's were of course still at school & working class so couldn't afford a Drape. But they are still Teds.I for one was a Ted before I could afford a Drape. All I had was a bootlace Tie & a tub of Brylcreem.
