This player came in with an almost dead laser assembly and power supply problems.

It was very difficult and very expensive to find a new CDM4/D36 mechanism, but as it turns out the laser head from CDM4/19 is identical and after about 2 months I finally found a NOS CDM4/19 and removed the new laser head from it and placed it inside the old CDM4/D36 mechanism.

I also changed main power supply rectifiers and capacitors with better components and of course all of the remaining electrolytic capacitors because after 15 years they were causing weird problems from the servo to the dac

Output opamps were also changed from ne5534 to opa627.

It is interesting to note that this player has 2 tda1547 1-bit dacs, however after the rebuild it sounds much better than many new cd-players having 24-bit dacs

I personally have never heard a 1-bit cd player to play that good.
