winchester98 is right, claymores were invented after ww2 and were used widely in Vietnam
the step mines you are referring to are bouncing bettys
thies were used by the imperial Japanese soldiers in ww2 and the Vietcong and NVA (north Vietnamese army) in Vietnam
thies mines bounced in the air after you stepped on them thus blasting vital organs and the head

Make sure you push the little latch down that is behind the safety, push it fairly hard it should click down a little. it should Look Like a small flat plate with a hooked part on the front, this latches on to the front cover and it pushed up from underneath, the safety sits in a slot towards the top / back. It takes a some getting used to but

okay. when i pull the saftey off the thing just goes off right there. i cant get it to stay shut. can anyone help?
