Is there a way to learn how to permutate my English in such a way that I can use the sentence structure of Japanese with English words previous to attempting to delve into the actual vocabulary, for example Yoda from star wars appears to speak backwards(I know it's not the same) can I do the same thing with English to learn Japanese or am I condemned to jumping headfirst into an extremely distinct new language?

You are correct. Very good.

haha!
wow. i never thought id hear from you!
i didnt see any other mistakes in the japanese, but it is a bit worrying. where did they get that example sentence, i wonder.
theres so few linguistics videos on youtube, its nice to have this one at least. thanks a lot!

@uppityboot Thanks! I had noticed they made mistakes in examples in Spanish; I guess we cannot trust this course completely. :( (Oh, and sorry for not replying before: I had not seen comments until today)
uppityboot is right, wrong particle in the Japanese example sentence. Should be 'で'.

does this start in the middle? are choamsky's principles explained prior to this?

@ddsharper Yes, it does start in the middle. I chose these Japanese examples and uploaded them mainly for a friend to check them out, but the course ("Understanding Linguistic", by The Teaching Company) is pretty varied and rich.

@bloodypinkbrain- Thank you. Yes! I ended up purchasing your course from the teaching company; have been a long time customer of the outfit. I wish linguistics and English departments collaborated in the schools.

@ddsharper Great! Hope you have enjoyed it as much as I have. :-) But it is not "my course", I just liked it very much myself and wanted to share a bit with other people. (I know, it's been 9 months since your post... sorry. hehe)
