"Be-Bop-A-Lula" only reached #7 on the pop charts in June of 1956, but has since been so revered for its subsequent influence on other performers, including the Beatles, that its status as one of the all-time great recordings in rock and roll history will always be safe. Gene Vincent, a native of Norfolk, Virginia, wrote the song upon his medical discharge from the Navy and recorded it with the band he had put together calling it his "Blue Caps". Gene will always be "coupled" with that of another famed rockabilly artist, Eddie Cochran, who died in an automobile accident that Gene was also injured in while both were touring Britain in 1960.

Classic - influenced not only the Beatles sound but their famous "Hamburg days" look. As John said, "We looked like four Gene Vincents."
