Our new series Soundbuilders travels to Madison, Wisconsin to visit Peaking Lights, a married musical duo famed for their pulsating looped-rhythm tracks composed on re-purposed scraps, stereos, and lo-fi gear. We watch as husband and wife prepare for tour by paring their studio down to the bare essentials needed to produce Peaking Lights distinctive sound.

Do you build your own instruments? Would you like to have your very own Sound Builders episode? You're in luck:

  • shit yeah! really inspiring!

  • I like sounds and I'm trying my hand on producing music too, but I'm a software guy so all this hardware and creating those crazy sounds is another strange new world to me. I find it fascinating! Peaking Lights goes into my list of favorite bands.

  • @88fuzz You can make sounds with random electronics by making a feedback loop. Essentially that's how oscillators work.

  • amazing

just the thought of this got me you know where

  • do you guys have an album ? i really wanna buy it..

  • @88fuzz I think they are taking the input from the little keyboard, then using the various cicruit boards to manipulate the sound.

  • I don't really see how putting random electronic components together makes sounds... There has to be something that's driving the sound

  • awesome this guy is a genius

  • @TheSqearl The song's name is "Tiger Eyes (Laid Back)".

  • @TheSqearl I also want too know what that song is. Aaron, do you troll yourself. hit me back. Richard from 155KRDNZ
