On January 24, 2012, dozens of Chicago taxpayers paid a visit to the Chicago Mercantile Exchange Headquarters with a special gift for Chairman Terrence Duffy. The CME had successfully lobbied to secure over $109 million in tax breaks and TIF funding—with $15 million earmarked for high-end renovations of the Chicago Board of Trade building including luxury bathroom upgrades. So taxpayers decided to present Duffy with a special gift, hoping to satisfy the CME's taste for luxury and convince the corporate welfare recipient to relinquish our desperately needed tax dollars.
Ok, my dad works there, and no offense to these people, but I think this is just funny. who raises the taxes? The government. CME makes all the money they have & none of it is tax money. My dad works there so he should know. If they want their money to be put to good use, tell Pat Quinn not CME -_- seriously, get the facts straight
