@moss197 It sounds just like a Walter M 601 Turbine engine.
-
That's just an engine with wings.
-
Looks like a PW100..

Such a wonderful toy! I like the way the sun glints off the spinner.
-
Hot damn! That thing starts up faster than my car on a cold morning.
-
@dkervinen its also worth noting that some engines, such as the garret engine, dont have their prop connected to a free turbine so they start while in the beta range
-
o.O Race? aerobatics? both!? i want one.

OVER 9000

is the engine custom made or is it from a King Air?

Greetings,
The props are like this because they are in the full feather position, as are most turboprops when they are shut down. The engine is started in full feather and then brought through beta to fine/forward pitch. Hope that helps.

I love the sound this turbine makes.

You should check it out flying. Just search turbine toucan, should be a video of take off, which is fun. Thanks for posting!

wow it is not an airplane, it is an engine with two small wings, I bet it climbs almost vertically

Check out the other videos, it actually does climb out vertically. Thanks for saying hello.

Whats that ticking sound with the engine starter
racer927 2 years ago
The clicking sound you hear are the excitors (which are like super high intensity spark plugs) which is part of the start sequence, all controlled by a computer. Once the turbine is lit it will stop, which is usually the first 10 seconds of spool up. Hope that helps. Cheers.
