@Bloodstock64 Yonkers was once a great track, situated twenty minutes outside of Manhattan, with the highest per-capita wagering in the country. Lots of sharpies, and you had to know all the basics to hold your own with them. Once I switched to thoroughbred racing in 1986, the lessons I got from this track were invaluable in helping me to win, and still help me to this day.

I wpould say it was the late 90's I Meyer was calling the races at Saratoga Harness.
Quite frankly Meyer sounded uninterested in the job. He was probably thinking about retirement.
Meyer was as good as they came during his heydays at Yonkers,
BTW, Jack landed the mic at Freehold for a couple of years before he nung up the binocs

Jack Lee would not let Meyer call for him when he could not make it at Roosevelt. Meyer is filling in for Lee's replacement, Jerry Glantz. Meyer was very nice; Lee was the opposite.

I believe hollypark is next.. I can ask my Cali aquaintences.. either way its still sad.. theres alot of history there.. both tbred and harness..

Bay mMeadows had it's last meet in late August. They are in the process of tearing it down for office buildings.
