2.8 Million Particles - Created with the Softimage 2011, Rendered with Arnold for Softimage. Motion blur and depth of field on third shot.
Hardware used:
Dell Precision T5500 Dual Quad-Core Xeon 5530's with 12 gigs RAM
Nvidia Quadro 5000
Sim time: 3 days, Render time: ~6 hours for all 1000 frames.

  • I quite like that chunk too!

  • specs are: dual xeon quad core dell t5500 with 12 gigs of RAM and a Quadro 5000. simulation time was a 4 day weekend, render time was under 24 hours with Arnold.

  • If it was stiffer but had similar fractures, I'd like it more. Or if it wasn't a "cup", I wouldn't be expecting rigid body physics. THAT ASIDE, I like the tearing and shredding, XSI's Lagoa ICE is really stepping up to the plate, nice sim. How much of the 12 gig of ram (and page file / swap) was actually used during this sim? Do you Remember?
