  • Thank you for very prompt reply. And thank you for all the materials you downloaded to youtube, it will take me days to enjoy it all. I looked upp jerboa on google, so far I am reading about "hopping desert rodents' will try more specific searches. I am in London and the Daren races here with the Masters series.

  • Hi Georg, I think Jack named the car Jerboa because it was designed to be small but 'long legged', just like the rodent! In the 1970 TF your Daren was in the same class as Jerboa. Do you still

    run the same engine?

  • Wonderful pictures and better than a grainy video, here one can spend some time on each picture. Did you drive a Daren in 71 (I now own the mk2 D6924) that raced at Targa Florio in 1970 (car number 222 I think) but sadly no pictures of that here.

  • Thank you for your comment. I was only the photographer and mechanic at the 1970 Targa. The drivers were Jack Wheeler & Martin Davidson. They drove a Daren Mk3 from September 71 (Nurburgring 500kms) until Targa in 73. I have photos of your Daren at Mugello in 71 driven by J and P Richardson. Look at my video 'Circuito del Mugello' 6min 24sec you'll see your car. Also got photo of your car at Ring in 71 but not posted that on YouTube yet. Which Country do you live? Do you still race the car?

  • Really cool pictures youre lucky you got to experience this. Did they start like a rally does or on a grid?

  • The Targa Florio started more like a rally insofar as the cars would move up to the line and be flagged away at approx 15 second intervals. So you were racing against the clock as well as other drivers

    over the 45 mile lap.

  • I think they ran a 1300 cc for TF 1970, there is not enough cars to be running in that class today (I would be alone in calss most races which would give results I suppose). The engine options are acutally quite large for the Daren, a 3 litre Martin v8, an FVC or a twin cam. I run a twin cam.

  • That's great, I'll look at the film again and look more closely!

I'll try and upload some more photos of the Ring on Youtube.

  • You see it in the end of my film from 1969.

  • That's right. Jack Wheeler & Martin Davidson were driving. What's you email address

  • I saw you in the program from Nüburgring 1969, No: 40, you had! :_)

  • Glad you like the pictures at the Targa.

The E type Jag towed the trailer very well.

Unfortunately the race car (Jerboa) crashed during the race. We also did Mugello in Italy and Nurburgring 1000kms and 500kms in 1968,'69,'70,71. in Austin Healey Sprite, Jerboa and Daren BRM.

  • Really like your pictures. :-) What a cool car you use to pull the trailer.

Okay in the race for you? I was at the Nürburgring and watched the 1000 kilometers in 1969, drove you there?

    Best Regards.

  • Glad you like them.

I have another 700 photos from Targa, Mugello and Nurburgring and will be posting these soon on Youtube.

I notice that you live in Germany, we have raced at the Nurburgring (Nordschleife) in the late 1960's until 1973 in various sports cars including Jerboa.

  • WOW! Very nice pics! Thanx for sharing... ;O)

  • Yes, it was a golden era of motor racing that I was lucky enough to experience.
