Presentation given by Cesar Hernandez in Dubai, U.A.E. for the Education Without Borders 2011 conference.
Did you ever wondered what goes through the mind of a person willing to leave their country to enter another? As the son of parents who fled starvation and crossed the Mexican desert to enter this country from Guatemala. I feel an obligation to contribute to creating awareness about current immigration issues. Thousands of families suffer each year risking their lives relocating from various third world countries. What drives and motivates an individual to come here? What did they encounter? What makes this documentary unique? The documentary shows immigrant stories from New York City, Tampa Bay, Orlando, El Paso, Juarez, Tucson, San Diego and Albuquerque; it will take you across the entire U.S Mexican border and give you point of views from Native Americans, Caucasians, Latins and African Americans. Furthermore, the function will not only be to educate, but also to discuss alternatives and possible solutions to the Immigration issue. In addition, I hope to target policy makers and the total community in hopes of shattering misconceptions about immigration. This documentary is a collaborative effort between with AMIGOS organization and the Seraph Foundation.
