This is an updated X-Clamp Fix video tutorial. I posted a similar video over a year ago, but have been doing the fix a little differently for a while now.
The method outlined in this video is a bit easier to do, but works just as well.
Most people can probably do this themselves and without spending a lot of money.
I think I covered everything in this vid, but if you still have questions, please ask. I usually keep up with the comments.

Parts: M5-.80 10mm hex cap bolts. (x8) 5mm Steel washers. (x8) 5mm OR 1/4" nylon washers (x8)
*I got the above parts at Lowes.

Thermal Paste. I usually use Arctic Silver 5. But I have used other brands and they worked fine. You can get this online, or at Radio Shack, Bestbuy, etc.

Heatgun (optional). You do NOT have to do this step. But I recommend it. got mine at Lowes for around $25.

*Heatgun Times: Low for 1 and 1/2 minutes. High for 3 minutes. Low for 1 minute. Keep the gun moving and about 3-4 inches above the board.

  • @RobbieHct so do the x-clamps themselves not go back on the board? Are they just discarded? Thanks.

  • @somebignasty Right...they don't go back on. Throw em out.

  • @LEOn123493 you have to leave it for 20-30mins 3RROD will turn 2-3 2-3. then turn it off, leave it for 20mins top then problem solved. :D

  • iv tryed your fix and it still not working for me iv kept tightning the screws and un tightning but it keeps changing to 2 light then 3 lights??:s what am i doing wrong?

  • Are you using the same motherboard for the whole video? At 3:33, there is epoxy around the GPU and CPU but at 7:25, the epoxy disappears!

  • Can i use a small pen torch to heat the motherboard instead of the heat gun?

  • do i need to heat gun it or is that just if you want to?

  • im goner try this fix will it work with the 2 red lights and not over heating? or is it just 3 red light that this works for?

  • @whitcheywoman13 And, thankfully, I won't have to. Blocked.

  • Hi, Just wanted to let you know, I followed your video exactly and now my son's Xbox is back up and running perfectly. I have another one that I will be doing the same thing on. Had no problems what so ever. You rock Robbie :)

  • @CrayonScarf Who was being hostile? You haven't even SEEN hostile.
