To work the newly electrified tramways of Adelaide in 1910, 70 large trams of two designs were brought into commission. 20 of these trams were the E type 'open combination' trams. After a period in service, all 20 of these trams were rebuilt to a different design. This video produced by the St Kilda Tramway Museum details the history of these trams as well as the story of the preservation of the two trams of this type in the museum collection, E type 118 and E1 type 111.
