Getting the most efficient use from your avionics in the IFR system can often be challenging, but is essential for safe flight. This program on flying WAAS approaches with the Garmin G1000 gives pilots the knowledge needed to fly these new instrument approaches with confidence. In this program, we'll examine the redesigned RNAV (GPS) approach charts. You'll learn the specifics of LNAV/VNAV and LPV approaches and see how they provide ILS-like guidance when using the G1000, one of the most sophisticated glass cockpit systems available. You'll ride along on three flights to see, step-by-step, how to set-up and fly three different GPS approaches including an LPV approach. Learn how the unit provides turn-by-turn guidance for flying procedure turns and holding patterns and how the G1000 uses WAAS information to provide an electronic glidepath and more accurate navigation guidance.
Useless!

Ya know, in a three minute video you have to leave out the 1:30 of sales information-to tell people how the Garmin 1000 works. You can not really do what you just did with a Garmin 1000. Not without doing lots of operations that would have taken more than the minute and a half you wasted talking about how great the Garmin is-to set up the approach and make the ILS work. This is not an instructional video on the Garmin 1000.

I think I gave misinformation. I meant to say KAP140 rather than STEC.

Our non integrated G1000s have the KAP140.

They both have autopilots. The old autopilot is the STEC, while the new autopilot is the GFC700 by Garmin and integrates more completely with the G1000 software.

doesn't the new g1000 c172 have an autopilot unlike the the 04 skyhawks

I wish i had a G1000 too :( it makes everything alot easier, but oh well it looks like i would have to stick with my old avionics for some time.
