President Rajapaksa today monitored the de-mining programme in the North. A foreigner engaged in the de-mining task pointed out that the process is not as easy as certain groups consider.
Steen Wetlesen observed that the Government was strongly dedicated to the removal of mines. Removal of mines is an uphill task. It earned his acclamation. He clarified to the President that the task of removing landmines was not an easy. It was a time consuming effort. But he said the process was being carried out smoothly.
The President presented gifts to women groups engaged in the de-mining process.
