New York Cities top 10 subway cars of all time in my opinion.
NOTE: Due to similarity in design, two different cars might have tied for the same position

  • My real top 5 are #5 R40, #4R32, #3 R68, #2 R142/A and #1 R62/A. I think thats my top 5. Answer.

  • my top 10 would be #10 R143,#9 R44,#8 R42/R40M,#7 R40,#6 R160A/B,#5 R142/A,#4 R68/A,#3 R46,#2 R32 and #1 R62/A. Answer.

  • Sorry--I go back to the days of the HI-V cars on the IRT and the R-1 cars on the IND. The new cars simply do not compare.

  • I remember the R40 slants as a kid on The F line. We would see them when we headed out to Lincoln HS to run around the track. I always thought they were so cool, and didn't understand why the Brighton Beach Line (than served by the Q(express) and D(local)) didn't have them. Thanks to the founder of nycsubway, I learned that the slant design was intended to help make the train look modern (eh, futuristic?) but that went out the door with the addition of gates and chains for safety.

  • I like the RED BIRDS, but I like it when it ran on the C line. The trains were greatly improved from earlier. Acceleration, but stopping speed was squeaky.

  • My number 1 subway car of all time is the R38's. I liked the acceleration of these trains and the stopping distance. They are know to stop on a dime. My second choice is the R40 slants. They have incredible downgrade speeds (even greater than the R'38s). R46 is the most improve train of all time. They also give a more smoother ride. R68B that is used by the "Q" train come up as #4. 32's and 42's and box 40's are all on the same playing field to me. The 32's are airy sounding.

  • I like the R44/R46/R68 design the best. For New York cars I prefer the big

letter in the front window [vs over the end door]. For other cities including

here in Chicago I prefer destination signs over the end door.

  • What sound track is it

  • @junjun798 thx it does
