  • @dedebass7 ....COOL!!!

  • I got 2 agree, sell music yourself unless you can get a better deal with a major distributor. I dont even know what to say; a group I was in back in the day was able to sell just enough CDs on our CD release night, that it covered many studio/packaging/gas... expenses. Now thats when (I) realized how to make the money. But I have no band now. But it's nice to see that artist take the time to explain something that seems to be so hush hush and quiet misunderstood.

  • @0tek1 ....I know that's right..........

  • Victor Wooten is amazing! I'd love to see him come to Calgary and maybe get the chance to speak to him. His knowledge has changed my life. Thank you.

  • @CKmusic22 I got the chance to talk to him about 3 times. Every single time, it has changed the way I think about music. Truly and amazing person to meet and talk to.

  • You know Vic does his on production and mastering at his studio....promotion is a big cost and factors in the most. He has now signed with Heads Up Records, before he was an independent contractor so to speak. some aspects of finance, not allowed to discuss but it works out in his favor,,,,,,,,,,

  • Probably a better question would be on the pros and cons of some of the places money can be spent on promotion.

Lots of options, some free, some services, some hidden fees... Those pre-record company options can offer a lot of potential. Everything from band-comps and compilation CDs to street-press advertising etc.

Some offer little real gain while others are setup just to milk musicians of fees....... While there are simple ideas that have huge impact. Those are the gold.....
