View of harmonic balancer on a VW 1.9l diesel AAZ engine with 400 000km. This is the third balancer installed to see if vibration (wobble) stops or changes. So far no success. This balancer, while used, was in good condition. Balancer was blasted and painted as were all other accessory pulleys. Waterpump replaced at same time with new, PS pump replaced with good used. As vibration occurs both on balancer and v-belt pulley (which is bolted essentially to the crankshaft), issue must be with crankshaft sprocket. Sprocket was inspected, but not removed. Bolt was tight, sprocket appears to be on square.
An other way is to replace sproket for a new model one and electric weld spot it just to get it fuck...g stay there ! it's cheap and it does the job for an other 300,ooo km !
This one comes from an old Vw mechanic man ! It works with mine since 3 years without trouble ,no vibration at all... just grind the welding spot and replace if needed !

VERY common problem with these motors. Pull the motor, get a TDI pully, and have your crankshaft machined to fit it. Really the only fix. This is the only real fatal flaw in the 1.9
