If they are set free they wil not survive. Don't worry about the crowd that's the way they like it and live like in the wild.
They are no longer caught in the wild as the are a protected species. If you own one it is mandatory to have a CITES certificate, proving they are 2nd or more generations in captivity.
They interact wonderfully with their owners and really enjoy human company!
