Electro-Harmonix Effectology, Vol.7 Reverb Tricks

Welcome to Electro-Harmonix's "Effectology" series, in which we create a remarkable collection of sounds using just a regular guitar and EHX effect pedals!
No keyboards, samplers or midi pickups were used.

In today's episode studio musician Bill Ruppert demonstrates some old and new effects using reverb.

Each one of the four sounds in this video has the reverb positioned in unusual places within the signal chainproof once again there is no correct way to order your effect pedals.

There is a clip of the new Cathedral Stereo reverb using the brilliant "Infinite" switch.
Its really a beautiful sounding reverb.

EHX Pedals featured:Soul Preacher,Holy Grail,MicroSynth,English Muff'n, Stereo Memory Man.

For more information on these pedals and actual settings please vist the Electro- Harmonix Forum:

  • could one get that 'angel harp' from just the Grail and the DMM...or a sound close or like it??

  • @bluesintheblood

No you need a Multi-Tap echo for that sound. The DMM does not do that.

    It is an analog delay.

  • if you put this amazing pedal through an mxr distortion III and a wylde overdrive, does it works cool? or 2 much distortion?

  • @freeriot99

You would have to try to see if that much distortion works or not.

Best to use you ear as sometimes the crazy stuff is amazing!

  • between holiest grail and this one, what's the best choice? taking in consideration: longest reverb decay and possibility of doing shimmering (is it possible with holiest?)? The infinte reverb thing of this one could be easily replaced by a Freeze pedal along with the Holiest? I'm going to buy one of those so HELP ME haha

  • @postnoisee

    Wow they are all different!

The Cathedral is newer and sounds better to my ear.

The infinite reverb and the freeze are similar effects BUT they sound different from each other.

  • Cathedral is one of the greatest pedals in the last few years, hands down.

  • The first vid/clip I've seen that utilizes the infinite switch brilliantly! This changes the perspective I have of the Cathedral completely.

  • the surf part sounds kinda like pink floyd's Echoes...

  • cool demo of the Cathedral.

  • now all we have to do is compress every effect that has been on the Effectology series into 1 or two pedals

  • @carswell98 me too, I love that chord progression any idea what it is?!

  • 3:45 - 3:50

quite possibly the prettiest noise I've ever heard leave an effect pedal.

  • Amazing its really amazing

  • This has 8 presets to save to yeh? The big question for me is can you swap between those presets with your feet or at least swap between 2 (as i can see there is 2 actual buttons) thanks, Jake

  • all of these great effects are useless without imagination
