Wilfred Emmanuel-Jones claims to be Britain's only black farmer. Originally from Birmingham, he is causing a stir in its conservative countryside.

Growing up in a ghetto, "the expectation was you were going to end up in society's dustbin." As a child he took refuge in his parents allotment. Now with 14 hectares in Devon, he admits "you have to have a pioneering spirit" to survive. When Sonia Francis-Mills of the Devon Race Equality Council arrived "someone slapped me, and said we don't want you here." As Wilfred runs to be an MP and picks up prizes at the Devon Show, it seems attitudes could be changing.

If he were a White farmer in Africa, he'd have to worry about his land being stolen by the Black government, and his entire family being tortured and raped.

Racism is wrong, but it seems racism is only addressed when it's racism from Whites. And quite honestly, what the White farmers face in African countries is a very dire situation indeed, and what this guy faces is a joke in comparison.

So he is making an issue out of his racial origins/ethnicity and exploiting it commercially. He is also making a false claim that he is the 'only' black farmer, when the video shows at least one other. He also claims to be a 'gentleman' and aspires to participate in our politics but yet he refuses to share a platform with a rival candidate.

I'm sorry, but I think he is an arrogant, anti-white, racist bigot. I would not vote for him and I will not be buying any of his sausages. Thank you.

My dad was a black farmer (since the early 1960s) and I was one too (well technically a quadroon). I suspect there are one or two more of us... Historically there have been black people in rural Britain since Roman times but admittedly a rarity. Good stuff!

I find it kind of weird that a rural British community is being presented as being a 'bastion of white Britain' as if it were engineered to keep out non-whites. Why not imply that the Berbers of North Africa are similiarly prejudicial in who they allow in when there isn't a single Chinese face amongst them. Rural holdings have been maintained through centuries in the same FAMILY let alone outside the race. Land is very expensive. Most non-whites don't want to become British farmers. Come on.
