Best tribute ever. You can tell that Charlie's not a mean, rancourous man at all; he's just absolutely right and honest when he vents spleen on the cynical mental abuse that masquerades as TV and especially children's TV today. He is a good, decent man, as Postgate was.

A brilliant tribute, thank you Charlie. And thank you Oliver for making my childhood more magical.

Such a wonderful tribute, to the great Oliver Postgate, man I've only got Bagpuss & the clangers series 1 on DVD :( but I got them in a boxset out of my local Co-op for £5.99 :), still looking for Ivor the engine on DVD tho :/

To this day, I can still perform the Professor Yaffle impression I have been working on for the last 38 years.
This is truly a beautiful tribute to a wonderful storyteller.

wow, can you imagine any kids tv nowadays opening with words as well written and intelligent as the clip from the clangers in this vid? Kids tv nowadays treats kids like theyre all hyper ADHD lunatics. This still was so mellow and lovely. Like it stimulates a kids intelligence rather than just numbing them with explosions and pocket monsters or whatever

:')
When I was little, I had a video of various children's cartoons (e.g Superted, Postman Pat, Paddington Bear) and Ivor the Engine was amongst my favourites, because it managed to surpass the warmth of all the others. Bagpuss and the like were before my time (I was born in 1987), but even through clips like these I can see exactly what Charlie means. I'm tempted to hunt down the entire series of Bagpuss and buy it on a childish whim.

Do it! I've seen The Complete Bagpuss on DVD in the bargain bin at my local UK Blockbuster many times. They over buy and then sell them cheaply. It's in a funny little red case with a handle on it. It's worth 10 times the selling price for memories and nostalgic, fuzzy moments.
