Chapter 22

"Check Yes Juliet, are you with me? Rain is falling down on the sidewalk, I won't go until you come outside, Check Yes Jul-" Then after rummaging around my room I opened up the slide phone from Tay's bag and answered the call. "Hello?" I asked with a slightly irritated voice. "Nick?" Hearing Demi's tone only calmed me and I appreciated her placid reaction to my behaviour. "Yeah, she is round at mine if you were wondering." Referring to Taylor, of course. "I've been really worried because you know she never misses lunch and it is only the first week back. Why is she at yours?" Demz sounded pretty worried, I was convinced that she was. Taylor was the only person she seemed too over-protective of. I suppose that was good, I mean they are best friends. "Tell you later, could you come pick her up? She's sleeping right now and I think she needs the rest." "Uhm, yeah...sh-sure. Bye." "See you in a bit." I replied to her suspicious tone. I bet she though I'd done something to her. I had, but not as bad as Joe!

WITH JOE
Joe's POV
Sel hopped in the car with a big smile on her face. That always made me happy.
"Soo, how was work?" I questioned her after exiting the parking lot to the guitar shop.
"Great, I saw Kevo today!" She exclaimed excitedly.
"I haven't seen him in SUCH a long time it was awesome - he even brought me a Starbucks White Hot Chocolate just how I like it."
"Well he did learn from the best." I smirked with the knowledge of her knowing that I meant myself.
"Of course Joeybear! Oh my gosh, I saw Dani too. They are meant to be I swear, they're gonna have gorgeous kids." A lump in my thorat appeared. I forced myself to swallow it. Every night in my dreams that was the image I had of Selena and me with a house of our own with a newborn child in her arms.
"I'd say the same, but coming from the husband's brother, that would be pretty weird." A smile pursed my lips forcefully.
"Haha, yeah I guess." I glanced at her as she sat back in her seat with a dreamy smile.
"I know that look, and you're hyperactive, what happened?"
"Jake is what happened..." Selena smiled the same dreamy smile again. My blood froze.
"What?" I asked sternly, but tried to cover up my firm attention by the attempt of curling the corners of my mouth up.
"He finally asked me out. I've been crushing on him since like, when he first started working at the shop." I felt like throwing up, or better yet, throwing her out the car. But I could never do that. Who in their right mind could do that to the love of their life? Looked like she hadn't noticed my tone of voice. "He is taking me out to dinner tomorrow night."

"Cool." Was all I could come out with. She seemed disappointed with my reaction. I hated disappointing her, but what could I do? My incredible dream had just been crushed with one short conversation. My hands gripped the steering wheel tightly. It felt like I was the hulk or something. Fuck this. Fuck everthing. Fuck the world. UGH!!! I swung into the drive pretty dangerously. She slammed her hands down on the dashboard to prevent her from lodging a few teeth into it when I breaked hard.
"Don't go too slow!" She called out to break the silence after the screeching wheels rather sarcastically. "Joe just calm down okay?" I decided to just keep quiet. I opened my car door and before she had the chance to undo her seatbelt I unlocked her door for her. She smiled at my polite manner, but I could tell she was slightly worried about my sudden whisps of violent anger. I guess she would've been kind of nervous and thought that I might treat her like one of those other girls. Any other girl I treated bad, but not Sel. I'd never, ever, do that to Selena. Oh, and mom of course...When she got out of the vehicle I slammed her door shut in rage as she started walking towards the house entrance. I locked the car over my shoulder with the key, hearing a beeping noise of assurance. We walked inside and yet again I kicked the door shut with such force that the whole hallway rattled.
