  • What do the brushes do?

  • @EyeRing100 A brushed drill motor has an armature which is used to distribute the power to the coil wirings inside.

  • @MrToolstop The brushes are usually both the same, the polarity is most probably determined by the way the drill is wired. If I was you I would try and find an exploded parts diagram for your drill so you are getting the correct parts and that particular model is serviceable.

  • Great videos, thanks for posting these! Could I ask you a question ?.....I want to disassemble my Rigid 12 inch miter saw. to lube the bearing out, at the blade. I cannot get the housing apart, on mine.

    Thanks flywelder

  • @flywelder I'm sorry but we don't have the Ridgid power tools in the UK so we've never been able to get our hands on them.

  • Yes it probably does, but I guess it being a true work horse it'll never get a chance for a make over.

  • Use this as an oppotunity to bin the yellow diy drill and replace with a Makita, Hitachi or Bosch.

Dewalt is strictly a t.v handyman/ diyers choice....

  • This is an awesome video! The 2 things you change the most are replacements batteries and brushes on a DeWalt. At least I can save some money using this.

Rigid owner - save some money and upgrade to DeWalt. Better tool!

Rigid is lower grade Milwaukee. Milwaukee owns rigid and ryobi & Milwaukee being flagship.

  • a young dewalt helping a veteran dewalt= awesomeness

  • His voice kinda reminds me of Begbie from Trainspotting...

I toeld you to breing the focken kerds!

  • @MrToolstop Thankyou!

  • @MrToolstop Is one brush positive and the other negative? I'm just freeballing. I'm taking apart an old drill and trying to restore it. Thanks.

  • Buy a new drill

    take the old drill apart

    replace brush

put back together using the new drill
