This version of "The Sun Goes Down" came out as a single in July 1983. It's pretty similar to the studio version, but see if you can pick out the differences.

  • I always loved this song, was one of my first later Lizzy era songs I heard. It's awesome listening to a subtly different version too. Thanks a lot Ry!

  • Drums are different on this version.

  • wow!!!!!!!!!

  • my all time favourite thin lizzy track, darren wharton, and phil lynott, created a work of art.

  • Solo, solo one more time solo!!!:)

  • Nice.

  • Interesting to hear. I always thought the studio versions of this were a bit too over produced (but then again this was the mid 80s), but Phil's voice sounded really great. The live version on 'Life' I thought was better - probably one of the rare highlights (along with Don't Believe A Word) on a pretty naff sounding live record.

  • This is one of my two favorite tracks on T&L, "Holy War" being the other. It's incredibly evocative, and probably the best use Lizzy made of Darren Wharton -- although his work on "Someday She's Going to Strike Back" is exceptional, too.
