@MrNigelTheFrog Yup -- I've seen all the footage floating around -- The appearance of a turn is more accountable to swell and both vessels being on different swell .... Even if they had changed course to make a turn like that they'd have to be under 10 knots -- (would have been a much greater pitch change than what appears to just be due to a swell) Which would have rendered the average 10 year old on weed, with a hangover and heavily sedated able to get the Ady out of the Jap's course...

@dawino6260 Have you seen the footage from bob? If you havent then they are pretty much watching the shonan make its approach and then you see the ship turn massivly from the her leaning so she comes straight into the ady or earthrace or whatever you wanna call her, even the footage from the the ady shows the violent course change that slammed into her, i suspect the insurance companies are taking that into account about what you're saying so it could be a tight one!

GIVE'EM HELL BOYS!!! SAVE THE WHALES !!!!

@MrNigelTheFrog Have to take into consideration the angle of the vessel filming and account for swell and position of camera -- Also you have to consider their research is one-sided -- I notice NONE of the media reports show the film from the Jap ship.... I may be wrong ... but from everything I have seen -- If I was an insurance adjuster the claim would be denied... but I'm not so it's just an educated opinion

@dawino6260 Sorry about my shit spelling on the last one! The latest episode that was on last night said that the harpoon ships and the shonan maru are one of the best ships in the world for sharp turns at short distance and high speed and the footage from the bob barker does show a very sharpe course change as the shonan approaches the ady,,,,,

@MrNigelTheFrog Giving the benefit of the doubt he could well have rammed the fuel trying to reverse -- But the footage from the Japanese ship clearly shows the prop wash - he was goosing it forward

@dawino6260 Most of got a fuck loads from insurance but i wouldnt think Pete would out his and his crews life in danger...

My yen is on the Japanese.
Remember the PT 109.
Dig a pit and you will sink into it.
just don't blame it on your own shovel
-
@MrNigelTheFrog Probably worth more on insurance than it was as a vessel would be my guess... plus look at the publicity..... and the pretty new toy they built to replace it

@dawino6260 Why would Pete put his own ship that cost him $1m dollars to build, he put his life savings and sold his house for the Ady and Pete and the crew were sat with there backs to to two fins when he ordered the shut down of the engines a few minutes earlier, you could see from the footage shot on the bob barker after Pete boarded that he was heart broken.....
Larger vessel has the right of wayAND the Adi Gil had no business being that close except for the fact they were there to harrass the Japanese vessel. It was clearly a pissing contest, The Adi had no divers to protect and could have moved clear. I appreciate the guys are standing up for the whales but sometimes prudence takes a back seat to pride.

Was rammed??? It drove right into the Japanese ship, watch the video. They never tried to avoid it. The Japanese ship does what, 15knots? and the Adi about 5 times that. It is like saying you were hit by a glacier.
