1971.
Director: King Hu
Cast: Hsu Feng, Shih Jun, Tin Peng, Pai Ying, Han Ying-Chieh, Roy Chiao, Sammo Hung

If you can stand a three hour film mixing real acting, philosophy and a few fights this is still one of the great films (its certainly in my top 10).

  • "A Touch of Zen" (Xia nu 1969) is the Asian answer of "Once upon a Time in the West" (1968) by Chinese director "King Hu". He was born in 1931 in Beijing, emigrated to Hong Kong in 1949 and started his own studio in Taiwan in 1967. For this fight scene they only had this foggy light conditions for a short time in the early morning and needed over a week to complete the scene. King Hu was also one of the directors for the Swordsman I (1990) which I watched at a Cinema in Kuala Lumpur in 1990.
