  • Len Dawson, Bart Starr, Johnny Unitas, Sammy Baugh, Otto Graham... those 5 guys were h-a-n-d-s d-o-w-n the best QBs ever, much more so than ANY the moden day rule-change addled frauds of the last 30 some years.

  • Actually, they are better. Bart Starr has more championships than all of them combined, Namath won an AFL and a Super Bowl, and Unitas won 2 NFL Championships and a Super Bowl.

Montana was actually good, but mostly thanks to Walsh. Young barely won one SB thanks to the Cowboys collapse, and Marino has nadda.

Stats mean nothing unless you win it all.

  • Guys...and Girls...Please listen to Bart and Joe closely. They both talk about a man they RESPECTED and ADMIRED. John Unitas was a great Football player AND (as Mr. Namath adds "a great guy") Thank you for posting this. I too am a Big fan of all three of these guys. Its about life, not football. Thanks again. RIP Mr. Unitas

  • Those of you who dis Starr need to do your research - he led the NFL in passer rating five times. Johnny Unitas & Joe Montana led the league in passer rating just twice. Only Steve Young's six surpassed Starr. He was the best postseason passer in NFL history; a record 104.8 playoff passer rating and 1.41 percent interception rate-also a playoff record. Starr played when 80 was a decent passer rating. Yet he still performed more efficiently in the playoffs than anybody, ever.

  • You are underestimating Joe Montana. I think Unitas was the best ever but Joe Montana did one thing...he won.

  • THESE 2 HOF QBs, KNOW THE MAN IS & WAS, STARR STUDIED HIM, NAMATH, TALKED ABOUT THE RULES, HE WAS THE BEST EVER, 911 OVER-SHADOWED HIS DEATH, I WAS AT YANKEE STADIUM WHEN THEY HONERED HIM, THEY PUT ME ON THE BIG SCREEN, I WAS WEARING HIS WHITE JERSEY, AND HAD BOTH OF HIS JERSEYS' TAPED ON THE RAILING IN FRONT OF ME, IT WAS AWSOME, THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES, JOHN, YOU THROW TO THE ANGLES NOW, R.I.P. BOBBYRAY19

  • Listen to "broadway Joe" at 5:58-6:48 what great respect and tribute he had for the toughness of even an aged and injured Johnny Unitas during that Super Bowl III which he and the Jets won.

  • @Jikk I would say Montana is better. You can't look me in the eye and say Walsh made Montana and not say Lombardi didn't make Bart. The Green Bay Packers were a run first offense, so Bart didn't have to do much. Don't get me wrong, the guy is great, but Montana is the greatest.

  • @Jikk

bart starr wasn't as good as you believe. he was surrounded by all-star running backs, an offensive line featuring one of the best ever in forrest gregg and a legendary coach. he didn't have to do as much as QBs of his era since the defense had to account for so many other players.

  • Vinny Testeverde is the best quarterback (by far) in both college and pro football history.

  • Interesting to read the crawl on Iraq at the start of this clip.

  • starr and joe willie what can you say?

as diff as 2 guys can be and yet side by side

    they seem to go perfectly

to hear them speak so highly of unitas is all

the eulogy that man could ever need

t/y for the vid really impressive
