Derren is making people of Canterbury saying what time he has put in their watches.
I'm sure there's a simple explanation on how he does this...like with his hands.

@kmelton1841 A common technique among mentalists and streetmagicperformances is something called pseudo hupnosis. It's not hypnosis like you fall asleep or anything, it's just a state they put you in so that you will get more open to suggestion than you normally would. Anyways, hypnosis in general is'nt what most people think it is.

@moniapadme At 1:06 he clearly doesn't say anything at all. If you can hear Derren saying the "two" there you're hallucinating. It's a matter of suggestion, which is why he doesn't say it.

The thing he does with the first woman is also quite obvious. "And just have literally the the ehm, the hand pointing at one of the numbers." When he says Hand, he points upwards. That way, she links the word hand to the number 12. She already automatically linked the word hand with clock-hand. So by that, she links the number 12 with the clock-hand and thinks the big clock-hand is on the 12. The same thing is done with the minutes, but then with the number 17.

He also uses hand gestures on the first two he moves his hand from top to bottom while asking about the hour hand influencing the people to pick 12!

does nobody really see what Derren is doing here? I don't mean to discredit him; derren is basically my idol.
For the first man, listen to what derren says at 1:05 "Just imagine a clock face with the number going 1... 3.. 4.. 5.."
He skips the number 2, which you don't realize consciously, but your subconscious focuses in on it because it breaks the pattern you would've normally followed the counting numbers.

@Gonzebo thats true.. he also put in some hand gestures, if you notice just after he said 1.. 3..4..5.. he draws an imaginary hand towards 2
