So it's November! Which means...*drumroll* NANOWRIMO! It's National Novel Writing Month, my friends, a month when those daring enough to attempt it try their hardest to write a 50,000 word draft of a novel in 30 days. See http://nanowrimo.org for more information to figure out if you wanna try next year (or now, if you think you can write 50,000 words in 12 days). This is a trailer for my novel, which is based on a dream I had about my real life. It's sort of a fantasy view of my real life, and I love it for that reason. Now, onto the plot...

A group of four best friends is among the sophomore class who was treated to a group trip to Maui in September of 2009. They figured a trip to Maui would be a week in paradise and a week away from the chaos of high school life. It would be just what the doctor had ordered. But what they got was anything but relaxing.

Sixteen year old Kat Danes [SOPHIA BUSH] leads the group. She's incredibly conflicted, unsure of what she wants in life, and is too naive for her own good. But while being all of these things, she's also completely cynical and pretty bitchy. While she can let people in easily at times, she's overly choosy about who she lets in. As of late, however, she's let two men into her life - a decision she might come to regret in the future. Both Alex [CHAD MICHAEL MURRAY] and Nick [BRYAN GREENBERG] have hurt her in the past many times over, but since she's got such strong feelings for the both of them, she continues to subject herself to the pain they put her through, not caring what toll it takes on her in the long run.

Fifteen year old Cecilia Hanes [HILARIE BURTON] is Kat's cousin and the girl she's closest to. Well, the girl she used to be closest to. Cecilia is incredibly quirky, but in an adorable manner. She's really sarcastic and doesn't let anyone take advantage of her. But one night in Maui, everything changed. A spiked drink led to her cheating on her boyfriend, Robert [JIM PARSONS], with a good friend, Ted [JASON DOHRING]. While she tries her hardest to forget the night ever happened, for the sake of everyone in harm's way, news she receives a few weeks later after the trip makes that appear impossible. She's late.

The secret keeper of the group, Katie Jacobs [KRISTEN BELL] is by far the most cynical and bitter. But behind the snarky front is someone who's just searching for acceptance. Katie formerly dated Nathaniel [MILO VENTIMIGLIA], but when she began to fall for his best friend, Ted, she broke up with him. In Maui, she witnesses a lot of things she doesn't know how to react to. But what she does know is that if she let any of these secrets out, lives would be ruined. It's like Pandora's box. Even popping the lid a little would create mass destruction. But when her own life begins to become too cumbersome for her to handle, will her judgment become blurred?

Finally, sixteen year old Emma Thicke [ALEXIS BLEDEL] finishes off the quartet. She's the sweetheart of the group, and always has a smile on at all times. But it's nothing but a facade. Underneath it all, the kindhearted brunette is lost and trying to find her way in the world. She's currently dating Nat and can't help but feel guilty for stealing Katie's ex. At least, from the distance Katie has kept between them, it seems like it's that way. Emma is the first person to hear about Cecilia's romance woes, but she's definitely not the last. Cursed with loose lips, the secret's bound to be aired sooner than later.

Things aren't always as they seem. Sometimes you need to look a little bit deeper and find What Lies Beneath.
