2009 MCAS Miramar Airshow
MCAS Miramar
Miramar, California
Friday October 2, 2009

IN THIS VIDEO, Fat Albert performs his demonstration over MCAS Miramar. In four demonstrations over the three days of the Miramar Airshow, Fat Albert flew the first two demonstrations with a low transition takeoff and the last two with JATO bottles. The JATO shots are among the very last JATO demos, and I hope to be able to bring you the last of the JATOs - that's if I can go to Pensacola.

I apologize for any bad color and/or vertical lines or American flag intrusion that may or may not be in this video. Unfortunately there were American flags that got in the way of the video during some critical parts of the videos and I have had some camera trouble throughout the weekend.

If you are interested in purchasing DVDs of specific aircraft and/or of airshows, interested in anything and everything related to airshows (where the jet teams will show up, all airshow performers, airshow reports from airshows I have attended, previews of airshows I will be attending, etc.), a much more easier to navigate "version" of all of my videos, and/or everything there is related to aviation - including spotting guides to my favorite airports and military bases and aircraft factfiles, please take the time to check out Steve's Airshow World at http://www.stevesairshow.com .

  • we dont care about the speech just fly the bloody plane !

  • do any one know the name of the songs used for the high speed pass and banana pass?

  • JATO or RATO (Jet Assisted or Rocket Assisted Take Off, whichever you prefer) bottles date back to (I believe) the Vietnam era. Since JATO (or RATO) bottles are no longer being manufactured, they're coming down to the last of the "stash", so to speak.

  • Thank you for posting, it was very enjoyable!

  • I can't wait for Pensacola! I hope the weather is good!

  • GREAT!

  • Nice to see the front end come off the ground after that short stop.

  • Why are the HATO takeoffs the very last? They going away?
