The slightly bigger Boker Trance looks awsome.

Thats why I dont buy Chinese made knives. Even if the quality was excellent I wouldn't. I much prefer what Taiwan and Japan are putting out. And they don't have to copy a ripoff knife makers designs to make an extra buck.

I would've taken it!

Haahaa, what an awful knife (:

Ive seen plenty of cheap copies but never any full blown counterfeits with the logos and all. This is why I get nervous about buying stuff off ebay.

@gianthomunculus have to agree with Joben. there is a major difference between copying something and selling counterfeit and making something similar to other product selling it under your own name with not a singe reference to the original design beside the looks... i personally dont think its so tricky (its tricky if mechanics patents are involved) to judge that. copying is lame but nothing wrong with it but counterfeiting is illegal and evil :) that is if we're talking not copyrighted stuff

@SrJoben What the Asians like to call "homage" is fraud by our understanding and with knives like this one (even if it were of better quality) it only shows that they try to cash in on the behalf of other's creations. Then models like the 710 Sanrenmu can be called homage, because yes it steals design features, but not all of them (not even most) from the Sebenza and it delivers awesome quality. A thin line but if you ask me, fraud and homage can be differentiated quite easily.
AWESOME video man! :)
I see one good thing about the "totally Böker" model: It would be legal to carry in Germany - because it does not lock. :D That's hilarious, given the fact that buying it would be illegal (because it is a counterfeit). Also, which knife can say that it can be disassembled with one hand? That's world class engineering there.
Was it at least sharp?

@Schmidt54 lol I think you'd be better off with the real slip joint version. :D No it was quite dull.

i do agree with you on bad counterfeit knives, but what about good counterfeit knives? is this böker bad because is is a shameless copy or because it is very low quality. would it be alright if the quality was better?

@gianthomunculus That's a tricky point. This one is bad because it's crap, and ethically it's very bad because it goes beyond a being a similar design and actually reproduces the Boker and CLB trademarks. There's homage/imitation and then there's fraud. This is fraud.

@SrJoben ok, i just think its a tricky and arbitrary line to draw. for example i would guess that if you ask mr. reeve for his opinion on the sanremu 710, it will be quite different from yours. i own a 710 myself, so i´m not trying to be an ass. i just think you should be careful on this whole topic.

@gianthomunculus Well it's not that arbitrary. You can ask Mr Reeve his OPINION on the 710 all you want, but the point is that producing a knife SIMILAR to another knife is not a crime. In most countries producing a knife like the one in this video, complete with fraudulent trademarks, would violate one or more laws.
