Toad didn't mention romance; he mentioned that the light was softer. I agree. Kero light is easier on the eyes than LED.
"Cold-blast" lanterns (like a $10 Dietz or Kirkman) puts out 3-4x the candlepower as a "dead-flame" lamp like this kid is using, with much less soot. Lanterns can be repaired in the field and bought anywhere. What about the LED lamp?

this is not the question of what's more romantic!! its what's safer.. cheaper on the long run... and lights the room better... if the light is softer you usually see less...
