Vincenzo Culotta plays my 'Britney Spears Counterpoint', a piano arrangement in which I had fun with a few phrases from Mrs. Spears ('Hit me baby one more time' and 'Oops I did it again').
If you follow the words you always know where the melodic material is derived from.
It came out a very dramatic text :)

  • Really nice. Would like to play it at concert, can we ?

  • @viennachan1 as far as I'm concerned... it would be great!

  • D minor? Again? Is that your favourite key?

  • @colourfulwithaU I chose D minor for a matter of registers. If you notice the piece could hypothetically be performed by female choir, a couple of violins doubling the choir, and continuo section. Anyway: yes, I love D minor..

  • D minor is the saddest of all keys.

  • this is great! Is this also written for voice? 'Cause it would be a delightful Choral piece... wanna arrange this... can I?!!

    Thanks!

  • do u use a program to write the notes down and play them? in that case, what program`?

  • Can i buy/download the sheets anywhere?

  • Sublime dude

  • mine is E flat major!

  • @AbsoluteZ3R0 Agreed! My favourite major key is D flat; to me it's just... lush, for want of a better word. It just has something that none of the other major keys have, and I think it's great for tranquil, pensive, sentimental pieces. As for minor keys, I like C# minor too. And I love the richness of C minor.

For me there's quite a big difference in sound between the flat keys and the sharp keys. Of course, that's until you get to the signatures with 6+ sharps/flats, and they start to blend.

  • @david203 If you have perfect pitch the keys all sound very different. My personal favorites are C# and F# minor

  • Brilliant

  • @david203 We're all different and therefore are more attuned to different things. Quod Erat Demonstratum.

  • I never understand when people prefer one key over another (except for reasons of fingering and coordination with other instruments or voice, or perhaps for those with perfect pitch). I think all tempered keys in the same mode sound the same. Of course, if a piece modulates from one key to another, the specific target key becomes very important. If different keys truly felt different, then wouldn't A=473 feel different, and maybe "better", than A=440? It's a reductio ad absurdum!
