I made this cake for my godmother who celebrated her 50th "golden" birthday. This was the first time I made sugar roses and they were so fun to make! I used a silicone mold for the butterflies and handmade the number for the top of the cake. This is my first video upload and I hope it's not too boring! :)

  • @Elliemayh94 hi! i used gum paste for the numbers. i basically rolled it into a thin sausage and shaped it freehand. I then let it dry completely (about a few days depending how thick you roll it) before I place it on the cake.

  • What did you make the numbers out of?

  • I used a thick gauge wire and stuck in under the numbers so I had something to help it stand on the cake. I would wet the wire with some edible glue or water so that it will stick to the number much better.

  • How did you get the numbers to stand so perfectly and not fall over on the cake?

  • Thanks for your lovely comment. I bought the pans from Michael's using my 40% off coupon :) I think they were called Paisley. I used cutters for the letter and then painted them with gold luster dust mixed with clear alcohol.
