bugaboo in Nepal

Bikesh is a 2,5 yrs old boy, if you see him, you wouldn;t expect so. He looks like a one year old. He is an orphan, and has not been fed well or taken care of in the past years. This month we finally managed to bring him to the orphanage, and reunite him with his 4 year old brother Bibek. Bikesh cannot walk very well yet, and the road to school is long for him.
Today things will change, his eyes glow with excitement, and he continuously repeats the word Ghaadi, which means car. Today Bikesh will join the other kids to school, but this time in a real Bugaboo! The oldest orphan is waiting and carefully lifts Bikesh in the seat. The other children gather behind him in the line, and together they walk to school, Bikesh cheering from his seat.

Families come outside and point to the little parade, look at that boy! He can go to school even without a mother carrying him! What a great mini-car!

The caretakers stay at home, and are deciding what to do with all the other gifts from bugaboo. The transport bag is brought to the health centre, so doctors can do their rounds carrying all necessary tools with them on their motorcycles. The mattress from the carrycot, together with the footmuff make a lovely babybed for Bikesh, the parasol is carried around by one of the orphan girls, waving it around and singing songs about the sun.
