  • Aw, How weird seeing my childhood's favorite comic books altered into some manga sdesigned animation...

I don't like how flashy they tuned Laureline's red hair, and Valerian seems ten years younger. Anyway I could recognize the grumpy transmuter from Bluxte, Ralph from Glapum't and it seems that the character designers have felt free to make up many strange alien races to enlarge Valerian's universe, nowadays desperately dried out.

  • Valerian's universe IS a very rich one (so much, in fact, that Doug Chiang, original production designer for Star Wars, once admitted he drew inspiration from his Valerian volumes) and one naturally wonders if by adapting it to the usual animé stylistics and narrative, something important hasn't been lost.

The detailed brush art of Mezieres may be too much for animation, but I too expected them to mimick it somehow, at least in the backgrounds.

  • no dvds I want this in dvd!!!

  • @icouldsayitthrice mangas are comics only, really.

european and japanese styles mix up since long anyway.

afaik it is a cooperation between japanese and french efforts, but yeah, there also are japanese animations with better backgrounds :( still, cool to see it is not forgotten, isnt it...

  • @krips22 who knows ? van gogh was inspired by japanese paintings, I wouldnt be surprised if Valérian et Laureline drew some bits from japanese lore or something. astroboy started 1952. I personally read mangas way before most people even heard of it here, why should the artist not have been inspired stuff people did not know at his time ? yes, picking on comments, one year old :P

  • fuck you vidéo

  • Anyone knows where it is possible to find the soundtrack?

  • I cant find soundtrack from this anime ;(

  • Is this an anime series or is just a normal cartoon?

It looks similar to anime so I'm confused. =/

  • I love Time Jam
