While it doesn't present users with any really major changes, it does offer plenty of new features that are aimed towards making the devices all that more useful. Several of them appear to borrow from some of the big selling points Apple's competition has to offer.
For example, fans of Blackberry Messenger will no doubt see some of the more than a passing resemblance in the new iMessage app that will replace the current SMS / MMS app on the iPhone.
Another example is the new notifications system. In a similar manor to Google's Android OS, notifications are set to the top of the screen and are placed in a handy all-in-one notification panel with a swipe.
Where iOS 5 deviates from its competition is in its little updates such as the integration of Twitter in to the backbone of the OS, giving users the ability to tweet as naturally as they would send a text message or email.
