A Historic film of Downtown Marion in about 1972, starts off with a quick clip of St. Agnes Catholic Church then shows only a view of Downtown Marion looking EAST down main street. Then off to the Snowmobile Races, not too many people knew that for a few years Marion did have snowmobile races, this film is of the very first such Snowmobile Race held at the fair grounds in Marion Michigan. Since we did not pay admission to sit in the grandstands, these shots were taken from hi-way M-66 looking over the fence at the race course. Could not see the start/finish line. Still if you are from the area back then or now something interesting to view.

this is awesome, they should have these snowmobile races now and have some people come back to town. i cant wait to see more of these! if you ever got around to burning these old marion films to dvd i would gladly pay you to ship some to me. let me know, thanks

Hello,, Thanks for your comment,, this footage was taken by my Father in/about 1972 using super 8-mm home movie film,, we live down state near Detroit,, and have been going up north to our cottages since 1969 and Marion is the closest main town to where we are on the Muskegon River. This video is that film converted to VHS,, I'm in the process of having the original films converted to DVD for better quality,, then all my you-tube videos will be reposted.. I have more footage of Marion back then.
