This is a video with scenes of "Splendor In The Grass" (1961) and "This Property Is Condemned" (1966), set to Chet Baker's "Summertime". I felt the music really suited the era in which the films were set, not to mention the feel and locations of the movies. I originally intended this to be a birthday tribute to Natalie but it's a few days late. It cannot be denied that the films worked in large part because of Natalie's talent and presence. She made the characters of Deanie and Alva seem real, you felt for her throughout, unlucky in love, controlled by an overbearing mother, wanting happiness yet knowing she couldn't have what she wanted. Her vulnerability and longing came through like gangbusters. I consider these films to be my favorites of her work, along with "Rebel Without A Cause" (1955) and "Love With The Proper Stranger" (1963). My apologies again for the poor quality of the clips.
I hope you like this tribute to Natalie, these two movies, and of course, the appropriately seasonal music choice.
Great choice on music and of course the beautiful Natalie Wood.
