Just because it has six strings does not = guitar. Judging by the string gauges and the tuning pegs, that is most definitely a bass. Plus it has TWO truss rods for the extremely high tension placed by six thick gauge strings.

Right, as said before LTD != ESP.... Moreover you can't judge a brand on one guitar/bass, especially low end ones ..... Bet you can expect some problem on some models off a cheap 300$ 5string bass produced in mass. Got a Ltd Sc-600, and Imo, this is really good stuff. Could understand your disappointment on a faulty 800$ Ltd bass.... but this would still be a stupid mind shorcut to compare it to entire ESP standart, plus you would have been far more attentive trying it out in shop....
