The British Funk band Level 42 used the chord procession of this song in the chorus of their song "Something about you."
But with their song being faster in tempo, having different lyrics and more hard edged in overall sound it can't be called a cover

This song is a class by it self. It caress you with warm melody and soul that takes you away to that place. Denice sing with so much control on all levels, you can fell her soul, pain and happniess in her music.

I remember first hearing this on March 31st 1977 when I learned that a very close friend had just passed away at just 18 years old. To this day I think of Dawn Burkman when I hear "Free" and in the Spring on certain days. I know Dawn is free as well but always remebered even after 34 years!
