AN/TPQ-37 Firefinder is a mobile radar system manufactured by Hughes Aircraft (later acquired by Raytheon). The system is a long-range version of weapon-locating radar, designed to detect and track incoming artillery and rocket fire to determine the point of origin for counterbattery fire. It is currently in service at brigade and higher levels in the United States Army and by other countries. The radar is trailer-mounted and towed by a 2⅓-ton truck. A typical AN/TPQ-37 system consists of the Antenna-Transceiver Group, Command Shelter and 60 kW Generator.

one of the most important components on the battlefield, though with the modern techniques of shot and scout it can be very hard to hit the target. I would add some kind of autonomous guidance system to the projectile so it is able to search the enemy in the approximate area and engage it.

Well, this is my MOS and I'm stoked. I don't leave until Feb 7th to go to Ft. Sill, but regardless, I'm pretty much prepared. I already know how to read the maps and give coordinates, and this job is right up my alley.

what people do not realize - it is a very old technology.
As a system it may (or may not) still be state of the art,
but the computer systems are OLD (70th technology)
