Whenever he can, Vancouver actor Byron Mann makes it a point to head down to Chinatown. The star of HBO Canada's series Bloodletting & Miraculous Cures (on Sunday, Jan. 10, at 7 p.m.) gives us a tour through his favourite 'hood.

  • yes he got that chinese words on the gate wrong (should be cheen hay moon)

    but his catonese speaks perfect

  • great show! at least he is not doing a typical cookie cutter tour, i actually learned a few things about vancouver's chinatown :)

  • Both words have a similar meaning, ie. "happiness," and that's what the words literally mean, "The Gate of a Thousand Happiness. Mann wasn't incorrect in what he said.

  • the gate is not called "Cheen Fook Moon", it's "Cheen Hay Moon". And it doesn't mean "The Gate of a Thousand Happiness", it's "The Millenium Gate" to celebrate the installation of the gate back in 2000. Bryon should do his homework and learn some Chinese before doing this show
